Is there a Gauge Cluster that I can install in my '03 that only has the Speed-O in the middle ?
Maybe it would have round gauges on the side too ?

Reason: I want a separate aftermarket Tach mounted on the left of the dash by the post.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

You could swap in a cluster from a non-tach truck? 98-00. 01-03 all had tach's. But...no clue if everything will work properly on the tach-less cluster in your '03. Might have to wait for Mr. Bob to chime in.

2001 XLT, 4x4. 4.0L SOHC, 5spd w/ hurst, 4.88 w/ Aussie and 31spline L2 axle, Deep Wedgewood Blue w/ train horns, 4" superlift, 3" body, 35x12.50 MT/R's on 15x10 daytonas, Blue LED everything on the dash Roush box w/ custom steel tube, Flowmaster Super 44, Panasonic head unit, Kicker CVR12, Kicker KX400.1, and some good 'ole wheelin' marks...and dents!!

And don't forget the Slave Cyl mod....French made POS part.

A possible solution would be to mount the aftermarket tach on the steering column so it obscures the factory tach. Not the look that your looking for, nor the optimum position for your tach, but it's one way to go.

As for a gauge cluster swap, I agree with Shane, hope that Bob chimes in.

2001~2003 are the exact equivalent swap but all had tachs. The gauges in a 96~2000 Ranger cluster (tach or tachless) will work in a 2001~2003 but some of the indicator lights may be misplaced. Clusterwise, 95 is a year unto itself and swaps into other years are better avoided. I think the best bet would be a 98~00 non-tach cluster in your 2003. Probably little or no repinning involved.

Something else to think about: tachless Ranger clusters do not have a "Check Gage" light which means that they don't have any way to display a low fuel condition.

Good ideas but the Tach on the column defeats the Tach on the Dash idea so that is out.
I will look for an 00 if possible.
is there any threads on the pin -out differences ?
Thanks

Found an ’00 Ranger Gauge Cluster with only 3500 miles on it, wonder if that is 103500 ???? ha ha.

The pics look good an the guy said I could return it if it wasn’t exactly like I want.

The next step is as FX4Wannbe01 has stated install the ’00 tach cluster in place of the ’03 Cluster with the tach and see what works and what doesn’t.
From there I am planning to add a few LED for indicators that may not be in this cluster.
I got an ’03Ranger Wiring Book, suppose to be a Ford Tech Version, time will tell, and I will see if I can find the wires needed for 4x4 indicator and the Cruise indicator then add LEDs.

Waiting for the ’00 cluster to arrive and then some testing, Color changing and maybe some LED lighting too.

The Cluster looks good and from what I can tell the only indicators that will be needed is the 4x4/4x4L.
Need a garage to work out of or some warm weather and will start taking things apart.

Take some pics of your mods, write up a little about what you did and how you did it & we'll get it posted in the How To section.

Got my 2003 Ranger Wiring Book in the mail today, funny thing though it has a 2005 on the cover.

WHY, WHY, WHY, I have such a good feeling about buying on the web.

It is in dispute at this moment through Paypal, don’t expect any problems; time will tell.

Not that I would have got to the rewiring of the 4x4 gauge but I thought it would be good to read through.

Check with Bob, you may find the differences are not significant.

Ford did a thorough revision of the harness and released an all new instrument cluster in 2004. So, the 2005 Wiring Manual would be useless for a 2003.

I have both the 2003 and the 2000 Wiring Manuals, BUT my first step in the electrical side of this project is to plug the 2000 cluster in and see what works and what doesn’t then I will think about electrical mods.

I am trying to sell the 2005 Wiring Manual.
there was a guy on Ranger-Forums.com that asked about it and I told him i would accept it and have never heard from him.
Funny!

I haven’t had the time to disassembly the dash and check everything out.
The OTHER project is on there taking up the Ranger’s space.
So as weather permits I will take stuff apart and see where the electrics stand.

In the mean time I attempted the color change on the cluster face but found on an OEM unit, the RED Glass Paint didn’t turn out as red as I wanted.
I found a site that has the No-Tach Clusters with the red colors as I wanted and they will add a Ford script for me free.
They also aid they have a “No Hot Spot” LED Lighting kit available, I asked for some pics and pricing also; we will see.

Waiting to hear about pricing and shipping.

Will post pics when completed.

The RED Gauge Faces are made but the even lighting is another thing… working on it.

Working on the Radio too.

Here is a pic, a bad one but the best I could get.
There is a "How-To” in the works but not accepted yet.

First pic is the new Gauge Faces which we have seen before, second is the possible lighting, if it works. There may be addition LED Strips added toward the center and the Plug-ins will disappear. The power for the LED Strips will be from the OEM Bulb Locations via a mod’d socket.

I got the Gauge Faces in the Mail on Saturday, no time over the weekend but hopefully today I will attempt the mounting to the metering portion of the gauges.
As I said in one of my post the idea of the Strip LEDs, although I thought of it earlier, the credit goes to Black Cat Custom Gauges along with the pic.

I should have the LEDs sometime this week and will post pics as soon as I can.

Stated the lighting.
The strip of LED setp is looking OK but needs filler lighting.
So far I have added a couple of extra strips but I am still not satisfied.
I ordered some of the SMD LED in 194 Lamp form and will see how they fill in.
