Hi Brock, welcome to Generation Edge! I moved your question to this forum. I'm personally a slam it to the ground kind of guy, so I can't offer any suggestions. But there are several guys on here that are into the lifted thing, hopefully they will chime in soon.

Enjoy your stay here, if you get a chance stop by the new member forum and introduce yourself. Include pictures of your truck if you can, we all like to see the Ranger in all her glory!

Welcome to the forum.

It sounds like you are lowering it, correct? If so you can drop the front fairly easily, but not enough to match the 5" drop in the rear.

Crawl under the truck and locate the rear of the torsion bars. You'll see a bolt head hanging down from a tab on each bar. Turn that bolt out and the truck lowers, turn it in and it raises. Turn out both sides equally. You'll only get a couple inches like that, but it helps since the rear is usually higher anyway.

Any more than that there are other folks on here that can help. I've only lowered my 4x2 and it's coil sprung, on my 4x4 with torsion bar front I've only raised it enough to level it.

Welcome to the forum Brock. I hope you enjoy your time here, this is a great group of people.

I would suggest that you go over to the Lowering Suspension forum and start looking for/at threads by DJaye and start reading. In my opinion Dan has more expreience of a practical sort at turning a perfectly good truck into a hovercraft than anyone alive today.

And, as 440volt suggested, it would help a lot if we could have the complete spec on your ride. The big question I have at the moment is are you on coils in front or T-bars?

My bad, that's what I get for listening to my wife prattle on and trying to read/ post at the same time! About the only things you can do to lower an Edge are to "uncrank" the torsion bars by loosening the adjustment bolt or completely replace the front end suspension (That's what i did). Some folks have grafted XLT springs, control arms and associated parts on to Edge. At least I think I remember hearing about that in the deep dark past, possibly on RPS.
A slightly more radical approach is to engineer your own coil over suspension, such as Djaye has. He can be found around this forum, often in purple sweats, LOL.

To be honest T-bars are tortional springs. But that's neither here nor there. As you drop an Edge (T-bar) front suspension, you start to run into geometry issues. First and foremost, if you go really low, you are going to punch through balljoints at an alarming rate.

Like I said, read through DJaye's posts. He's been there, done that, has several T-shirts, and has even washed them several times. But near as I can figure, he's made all the wrong decisions, fixed them, and come away with a truck that looks like a ground effects machine that corners like a rat with sneakers on.

You can Lower your truck with all bolt-in parts and minor welding from a local welder. The problem you will run into is alignments. Without a good amount of custom work, your going to have alignment issues.

Lifting a truck, theres a whole truck-load ( pun intended ) of ready-order parts to git-r-dun.

I tried converting to an xlt setup and being honest, it wasnt pretty. Having an ' edge ' with the engine crossmember being dropped out below the rest of the frame.. not to mention the tranny-crossmember being rather low as well..

You can pull 4-5 inches out of the front with some minor alignment issues. After that, things just become more headaches then they are worth.

Heres how my truck sat as of this past weekend. Im doing the wheels and waiting to have the paint cut/leveled..

The suspension is setup for SCAA or RoadRally types of events. I used to like just going forward quickly but have expanded my horizons as of late.

What does ' factory ' mean?
