A few folks here might remember I had a 2002 Ranger and enjoyed it thoroughly. Well, my late father bought a 2011 Ranger, 4x4, fully-loaded with everything, and I was driving it a bit last week in North Carolina. There is an odd thumping noise, almost like there is something stuck in a tire, perhaps a wheel out of balance, etc. Dad took it to the Ford dealer and was told "that is normal." Well, I question that. So I ask what you all postulate this might be. Thoughts?

2011 had discs on the back. Pop off the rotor and check the pads inside the hat ( parking brake ). Might have some ' junk ' in there.

What does ' factory ' mean?

I have a 2010 Ranger. They came with Good Year Wrangler SRA's. They wear really weird. The inside groove when up front will wear on the inside and the tread will like point up in places. When you rotate the noise will move. Changed to fusion suv tires. Nice and quiet. And wears normal.

Frank, you might check to see if you have lost a wheel weight, doesn't happen often, but it does happen.

And take it easy on those Doctorate words, some of us have fairly simple minds!
