Well, it looks like I may purchase my late father's 2011 Ford Ranger XLT. He bought one because of my Ranger and got it fully loaded: 4.0L V6, 4x4, full skid plates, step bars, LineX bedliner, truck cap, tow hitch, etc. and it has less than 25,000 miles.

My question = I would like to add in a few mods, such as the OHC and the center console. Has anyone come out with the How-Tos to make the OHC possible? I know the EATC is a no go on the 2011 models, but other mods I hope to implement.

Thoughts welcome.

Hi Frank, good to see you back on again and maybe back into a Ranger.

There's a good how-to on here for the OHC, and one on RPS. The one on RPS is missing the pictures but the text is there. See if they help. The OHC is entirely possible.

The issue is not how to install but if anyone has figured out the wiring differences between the 2002 and 2011. The 2011 has a few differences from what I can tell.

That I can't help with, since I'm still running around in something significantly older. I'll check around on RPS and see if something on the newer models is available.

Well, I *think* I found info on installing an OHC in a post 2008 Ranger. My father actually bought a 2010 model, not the 2011. Just got the truck an oil change, new engine air filter, and got the tires balanced and rotated. That seems to have fixed the weird thumping noise I was hearing. Annoyingly, however, the darn rearview mirror is already delaminating, Ford did a piss poor job painting the hood (big drip mark on the paint that was never removed), the huge Ford logo on the tailgate is itself delaminating, and I will have to partially remove the weatherstripping on the passenger door and reglue it, as this is also separating. It looks like sitting for a year was worse for it than anything else. One car wash failed to remove all the grunge from it, so another might be required.

Hi Frank, good to hear from you again. Do you currently have a wiring diagram for either year console? These are the search results I came up with on Ranger~Forums, you may find some help there.

Good luck!

Howdy Ken!

I do not but will hunt around for one. I have a center console on order that looks like this (although with a cloth armrest) :

Issue will be figuring how where exactly to mount it on the floor between the seats.

The main mods for the interior thus far will be an aftermarket stereo (I must have bluetooth), the center console/bucket seat mod, OHC, autodimming mirror if I can find a way to wire one in, and I intend to change out the dome light for one of the mustang lights with map lights. The one mod I am truly missing is the EATC, but because of the dash change it is not possible without finding a new place for the ambient air sensor (since Ford removed the little vent on the dash). I am not aware of anyone who installed an EATC in a post 2007 Ranger. The sensor could be relocated to compensate for the lack of a port on the dash, but exactly where is the question. Thoughts welcome :)

Congrats Frank, hope it works out well for you. My 2003 Ranger now has 168,000+ miles on it and every part on it is still original other than normal wear items. The 2001 Mazda is the same but less miles. They are tough trucks.
